Miami, FL – September 10, 2026 – YO GANGSTA adds a new recognition to his career after being named a finalist for the 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards for “LA VILLA,” alongside Ryan Castro and Kapo, in the Latin Rhythm Song of the Year category. The distinction marks another important step for the Colombian producer at a time when his name is beginning to take on an increasingly visible role, not only behind major hits, but also as an artist.
Produced by YO GANGSTA, “LA VILLA” became one of the standout tracks of this cycle. The song reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, earning him his first chart-topper as a credited artist, and also climbed to the top of Latin Rhythm Airplay. Its impact extended across Latin America as well, where it topped both the Billboard Colombia Hot 100 and Billboard Argentina Hot 100.
The recognition carries particular weight given the nature of the Billboard Latin Music Awards, whose finalists are determined by performance on Billboard’s weekly charts. For the 2026 edition, the eligibility period covers charts dated from September 13, 2025 through September 5, 2026, a period in which “LA VILLA” established itself among the most prominent Latin releases of the cycle.
Originally from Cartagena, Colombia, YO GANGSTA has developed a musical identity shaped by the fusion of Afro, Caribbean and urban sounds. Throughout his career, he has been behind hits such as “11 PM” by Maluma, “OHNANA” and “UWAIE” by Kapo, “SANKA” by Ryan Castro and “BELLA” by Wolfine, in addition to work with artists including Fariana.
The recognition for “LA VILLA” also represents the natural evolution of a career built for years primarily through production, opening a new chapter in which YO GANGSTA is also beginning to carve out his own space as an artist.
The 2026 Billboard Latin Music Awards will take place on October 22 in Miami and will air live on Telemundo and Peacock.
