Miami, FL – 2 de septiembre de 2026 –El productor, compositor y artista colombiano YO GANGSTA suma un nuevo reconocimiento internacional con la nominación de “LA VILLA”, junto a Ryan Castro y Kapo, a los MTV Video Music Awards 2026 en la categoría Best Latin. La nominación llega en un momento clave de una carrera construida durante años detrás de grandes éxitos y que ahora también lo posiciona frente al público como artista.
Producida por el cartagenero y escrita con su participación, “LA VILLA” une elementos de dancehall y afrobeats en una colaboración nacida de la conexión creativa entre sus protagonistas. Desde su lanzamiento, la canción alcanzó el No. 1 de Billboard Latin Airplay, marcando su primer liderato en esa lista como artista, y acumuló seis semanas en el primer lugar del Billboard Colombia Hot 100.
La nominación a los VMAs adquiere un significado especial dentro de esa evolución. Aunque su nombre lleva años ligado a la producción y composición para figuras de la música latina, en “LA VILLA” aparece oficialmente acreditado como artista, compositor y productor junto a Ryan Castro y Kapo, consolidando una faceta artística que continúa ganando espacio dentro de su carrera.
En 2026, “LA VILLA” ha continuado sumando reconocimientos. En mayo, la canción ganó Mejor Canción Afrobeats en Premios Nuestra Tierra 2026, mientras su pieza audiovisual obtuvo el premio a Mejor Video Nuestra Tierra. El productor también recibió una nueva nominación a Mejor Productor del Año en esa edición. A estos logros se suma la nominación de “LA VILLA” en Premios Juventud 2026, donde compite en Afrobeats Latino del Año.
Los MTV Video Music Awards 2026 se celebrarán el domingo 27 de septiembre en Los Ángeles, con transmisión por CBS, MTV y Paramount+ en Estados Unidos.

Nacido en Cartagena y establecido profesionalmente en Medellín desde 2013, YO GANGSTA ha construido un lenguaje musical que conecta sus raíces caribeñas con influencias del afrobeats, dancehall, reggae y la música urbana. Como productor y compositor, ha colaborado con figuras como Maluma, Kapo, Ryan Castro y Fariana, y suma créditos en canciones como “BELLA” de Wolfine, que supera los 2.1 mil millones de reproducciones, “11 PM”, “OH NA NA”, “UWAIE”, “SANKA” y “LA VILLA”, entre otras. Miami, FL – September 2, 2026 –Colombian producer, songwriter and artist YO GANGSTA adds another international recognition to his career with the nomination of “LA VILLA,” alongside Ryan Castro and Kapo, at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards in the Best Latin category. The nomination arrives at a pivotal moment in a career built for years behind major hits and now increasingly placing him in front of audiences as an artist.
Produced by the Cartagena-born artist and co-written with his participation, “LA VILLA” blends elements of dancehall and afrobeats in a collaboration born from the creative connection among its protagonists. Since its release, the song reached No. 1 on Billboard Latin Airplay, marking his first chart-topper on the ranking as an artist, and spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Colombia Hot 100.
The VMAs nomination carries special significance within that evolution. While his name has long been associated with production and songwriting for leading figures in Latin music, on “LA VILLA” he is officially credited as an artist, songwriter and producer alongside Ryan Castro and Kapo, further establishing an artistic facet that continues to gain ground in his career.
In 2026, “LA VILLA” has continued to earn accolades. In May, the song won Best Afrobeats Song at Premios Nuestra Tierra 2026, while its music video received the award for Best Nuestra Tierra Video. The producer also earned another nomination for Producer of the Year at this year’s ceremony. Adding to those achievements, “LA VILLA” is also nominated at Premios Juventud 2026, where it competes in Latin Afrobeats of the Year.
